The Commission on Elections (Comelec) decision disqualifying Senator Grace Poe to run in the presidential election this coming May 2016 was junked today by the Supreme Court of the Philippines.
According to the official Twitter account of SC’s Public Information Office. The Supreme Court en banc voted 9-6 that reverse the Comelec decision which grants Senator Grace Poe’s petitions allowing to continue her bid for the presidency.
The 9 who voted to grant the petitions of Poe are Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, Associate Justices Velasco, Peralta, Bersamin, Perez, Mendoza, Leonen, Jardeleza and Caguioa.
The 6 who voted to deny the petitions of Poe are Senior Associate Justice Carpio, Associate Justices Leonardo-De Castro, Brion, Del Castillo, Reyes, and Perlas-Bernabe. - Jason E.
